Spreading Christmas cheer:
Sharing the magic of Orchard Road's dazzling Christmas lights

Together with activists from PAP Bedok Reservoir-Punggol Branch activists and resident volunteers, STESU brought 
20 wheelchair-bound seniors from Thye Hua Kwan (THK) Nursing Home @Hougang to see the Christmas lights and to soak in the festive atmosphere along Orchard Road. 

This was also made possible with support from NTUC U Care Fund.

NTUC Launches #EveryWorkerMatters Conversations to Engage Workers

The Labour Movement wants to renew its compact with workers and understand their concerns surrounding work on a deeper level.

With that intent, NTUC launched the #EveryWorkerMatters Conversations (#EWMC) at a dialogue session with over 100 union leaders on 11 August 2022 at NTUC Centre. The launch marked a year-long public exercise to engage at least 20,000 individuals of different ages, collars, and sectors.

Tripartite Cluster for Retail Industry Releases Progressive Wage Model Recommendations

Some 19,000 lower-wage workers in the retail sector will soon see better wages and a more structured career progression with the introduction of the Progressive Wage Model (PWM) in the industry.

The Tripartite Cluster for Retail Industry (TCR) released its recommendations on the retail PWM on 15 August 2022. 

The Ministry of Manpower has since issued a separate media release accepting the TCR's recommendations.

NTUC Engages Institutes of Higher Learning as Part of Its Youth Taskforce

The Labour Movement on 2 August 2022 began its first on-the-ground engagement with Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) at ITE College West.

The engagement is part of the NTUC Youth Taskforcelaunched last month, and its year-long plan to engage IHLs to gain insights and support youths aged 18 to 25 before they join the workforce.

PM Lee: Tripartism Will Continue to Stabilise and Anchor Singapore in Times of Crisis

Mr Lee gave his May Day Rally address on 1 May 2022 to over 1,000 union leaders and tripartite partners at Downtown East.

“Our tripartite partnership has made a big contribution both to our economy and our cohesion. It is our uniquely Singaporean way of conducting labour relations. Where Government, employers and unions are close partners working for a common cause, coming up with win-win solutions across many different issues over decades.

“It is how we have come through uncertain times and crises in the past. And it is what we continue to need, to remain united and successful in the future,” he said.
